The King thought he was being critical of me one day when he said, "If there was a huge boulder in the front yard, you would not give up even if it took you weeks until you had dug that thing out and moved it."And I said, "Yeah, and what's your point?"
I get it honest. My dad is not a big man, but he was strong and tough, and when he set his mind to something he did it (still does!).
Maybe it was to prove that point, but he used to hold my brother in his hand like this a lot. It always frightened me. I didn't want my brother to fall. But Jerry, would stand up there on Dad's hand, tall and straight, unafraid, balancing perfectly and smile away.
And Jerry? He doesn't give up either.
So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Galatians 6:9
I call it tenacity. Most of us children have been blessed with a lot of it. It is a wonderful gift. Our parents live it out daily and we have been the recipients of their example. "Just do it" was not thought up by Nike, it is the motto our dad taught us from the day we were born. I love him for that, it has made us strong and self assured.
