Valentine’s Day 1946.

Howard Eugene Kunnari and Maxine Marie Slater were married at The Basilica of Saint Mary in Minnneapolis, Minnesota.

Little did they know that I would be celebrating with them on their first anniversary.

They’d met a few months earlier.

Dad just back from the war in Europe.

Mom recently moved to Minnesota from Kansas with her friend Harriet.

Dad was attending school at Dunwoody on the GI bill.

Mom worked at Burch Pharmacy on Hennepin and Lyndale.

School was done for the day, and Mom was just getting off work.

They met on the street corner.

Dad asked Mom if he could walk her home.

She thought that would be okay.

Sixty four years, six kids, 20 grandkids, and 14 great-grandkids (plus two on the way) later, he’s still walking her home, and she still thinks it’s okay.

In the same way, a husband should love his wife as much as he loves himself. A husband who loves his wife shows that he loves himself. Ephesians 5:28
