My mom used to kneel, head bowed down, in front of a living room chair to say her prayers in the evening. She didn’t talk about it; she just did it and wasn’t ashamed and didn’t get up until she was done, even if I had a friend over and we walked in.Mom taught me more about prayer in her actions than a thousand words.
For many years a few other women and I met and prayed weekly for our children, the children of our community and our local schools.
The other night I witnessed one of the fruits of those years, as she gave a presentation with Q and A about her year teaching English in a third world country. She’s obviously an excellent teacher; but more than that, she diligently seeks to know the people in that country and love them and share the Good News of freedom in Jesus Christ with the many who bare their souls to her. Her joy and love for others are a magnet for the hurting, confused, questioning and lost. She glowed as she told her stories.
We prayed for a lot of kids. What God has done in and through her is obvious.
Since then I’ve been pondering the others. And I’m thanking God for so much, and trusting Him to bring to fulfillment every prayer we prayed.
And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and really believing, you will receive. Matthew 21:22
Great is His faithfulness as He continues to answer those many, many prayers! I'm grateful that He isn't finished in me, or our children!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about what a blessing it is to have you and so many others praying. After the talk last week my heart was overflowing with a sense of joy and thankfulness for being part of such a community of believers. Thank you, sister!! Love, Bethany
