Every time I looked at this photo, I wondered why my bangs were so short. Now I remember!I wanted to be a Lennon Sister.
Never mind that I am not gifted with a voice anyone wants to listen to (and often lip-sync to spare people the pain). Yet, while that is sadly true, in my heart I sing!!!
Specifically, I wanted to be Janet Lennon, who was about my age.
The Lawrence Welk Show was one of few programs faithfully watched at our house (except when Grandma Kunnari came to visit -- she liked The Untouchables because, "I yuss luff to vatch dem stamp out crime").
When I discovered The Lennon Sisters were coming to the 1960 Minneapolis Auto Show, I was there. A friend and I took the bus downtown for the Saturday afternoon show. There weren't seats that I remember; people just stood around a a big stage. My friend and I wormed our way to the very front.
My main memory? Janet's slip was showing!
I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:6
